The Vaccines for Children (VFC) Operations Guide defines the federal requirements for state, local, and territorial immunization programs. VFC providers are also subject to the programmatic policies and procedures of the jurisdiction through which they are enrolled. Jurisdictions may supplement federal requirements with their own in support of program operations and accountability within their jurisdiction.
The Vaccines For Children (VFC) program is a federally funded program that provides vaccines at no cost to children who might not otherwise be vaccinated because of inability to pay. The CDC buys vaccine at a discounted rate for distribution to registered VFC providers.
