2024 Office of Readiness and Response ORISE Summer Fellowship

Are you an undergraduate or graduate student?

Are you majoring public health, public health policy, epidemiology, or another STEM field?

Interested in the day-to-day work of public health?

If so, CDC invites you to apply for a summer fellowship in the Office of Readiness and Response.

Why Apply?

You will work on projects that help the Office of Readiness and Response (ORR) advance the Nation’s preparedness and response for public health emergencies and emerging threats. They include natural, biological, chemical, nuclear, and radiological events.

You’ll gain experience in agency- and center-led efforts to meet the preparedness and response challenges of tomorrow.

As a fellow, you might:

  • review and analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
  • help develop and present public health communication materials.
  • research and analyze public health policy.
  • collaborate with scientific teams and workgroups.
  • contribute to data modernization, knowledge management, and advancing the science of public health.

Your contributions—regardless of your assignment—will help CDC improve the preparedness and response capabilities of every community, including your own.

Deadline for applications is February 27, 2024.

Who Can Apply

Current undergraduate and graduate students majoring in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, particularly public health, public health policy, epidemiology, etc. You must pass a background check and security requirements before or upon reporting to CDC. (This opportunity is available to U.S. citizens only.)

Stipend

Stipend rates may vary based on numerous factors, including opportunity, location, education, and experience. Undergraduates stipends are approximately $3,300 and Post-Bachelor’s stipends are approximately $4,100.
