Salmonella Typhimurium

As of January 15, 2009, 43 states reported more than 400 individuals who were infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Typhimurium.

CDC collaborated with public health officials in many states and the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to investigate the infections.

By comparing foods eaten by ill and well persons, investigator’s analysis indicated that peanut butter was the source of the bacteria causing the infections.
