The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) is committed to a policy of nondiscrimination in all personnel practices to ensure equal opportunity for employment, promotion, and training for all segments of the workforce and to ensure that it celebrates its diverse workforce.

The Office of Equal Employment Opportunity and Workplace Equity (OEEOWE) is committed to fostering an inclusive culture at CDC/ATSDR through equity, opportunity, and respect. The office works to protect rights and provide applicants, employees, and the agency with information and services required by federal statutes, policies, regulations, and other guidance.

We believe that diversity in our workforce brings broad skills, experiences, and capabilities. Diversity in gender, race, ethnicity and other unique aspects are what make this agency richly and wonderfully empowered and capable to do the work of health protection and disease prevention for all people.

OEEOWE leads efforts to track and report on objectives, strategies, and actions toward achieving specific goals that align with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) mandates for maintaining the agency’s progress toward becoming  a model EEO program.

  • The Affirmative Employment Program (AEP) Team supports CDC/ATSDR’s goal of maintaining a workforce that represents the diverse constituencies we serve. As an integral part of CDC’s Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) program, the AEP is designed to proactively prevent discrimination and raise awareness of the importance of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) in the workplace.
  • The Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Team is committed to preventing and managing disruptive workplace conflict by providing efficient and effective services to CDC/ATADR employees.
  • The Complaints and Adjudication Team strives to handle all allegations of discrimination with great care. CDC recognizes and values our employees and staff, and takes pride in being a safe and healthy place to work.
  • The Reasonable Accommodation (RA) Team is committed to creating an environment that accommodates, embraces, and assures the inclusion and safety of persons with disabilities at CDC.
