Syphilis Activities

  • CDC works with clinical providers and health departments to focus on syphilis prevention and treatment among all people, including pregnant women. Their efforts include providing support for disease surveillance, contact tracing, health promotion, and other critical services.
  • In addition, CDC develops and disseminates evidence-based testing and treatment guidelines for providers so that patients can receive the most effective care.
  • CDC issued a call to action, Let’s Work Together to Stem the Tide of Rising Syphilis in the United States [PDF – 2.8 MB], for communities impacted by syphilis and other groups who have the power to reduce the burden of infection through research, treatment, and outreach.
