Guidance on best practices for environmental cleaning procedures and programs for use in global healthcare facilities with limited resources, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. This was developed as a collaboration between CDC and the Infection Control Africa Network (ICAN). It is available in English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish.
A guide for antibiotic stewardship program implementation in resource-limited settings that have fragile health systems and lack robust, regulatory frameworks. The guide contains practical, high-impact strategies based on both expert opinion as well as experiences in implementing antibiotic stewardship programs at the national and facility-levels to improve antibiotic use and fight antimicrobial resistance. The guide is available in both English and Spanish.
Operational considerations created by CDC to facilitate implementation of WHO COVID-19 technical guidance on infection prevention and control (IPC) activities for healthcare facilities in non-US settings. These documents were created for healthcare facilities with limited resources (such as staff shortages and supply shortages), particularly in low- and middle-income countries.
A CDC-developed tool to help laboratories in resource-limited settings identify gaps in testing performance and develop plans to correct key laboratory practices that contribute to inaccurate antimicrobial resistance (AR) data. The User Guide and Questionnaire are available in English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese.
This toolkit, developed by CDC and ICAN, was designed to help global healthcare facilities in resource-limited settings, particularly low- and middle-income countries, translate the environmental cleaning best practices into practical and achievable stepwise actions. The toolkit process uses a cyclical, quality improvement-based framework and includes a set of tools and resources to assist facility-based teams.
E-learning modules developed by CDC and the World Health Organization’s (WHO) IPC Department to strengthen IPC knowledge for all healthcare personnel and advanced modules for IPC focal points to help support them as they implement facility-led IPC efforts. The modules are free, self-paced, and provide a certificate at completion.
Online course developed by the WHO’s IPC Department with input from CDC for healthcare workers and public health professionals. This course provides information on what facilities should do to prepare and respond to an emerging respiratory virus, like COVID-19.
A webinar series focusing on practical advice and implementation considerations for IPC for COVID-19. This webinar series is now complete, and recordings and related materials are available for free online.
