Georgia uses a mixed medical examiner and coroner system serving a population of 11 million. Currently, Georgia does not have laws requiring autopsies be performed exclusively by forensic pathologists or laws mandating accreditation. Deaths may be certified by medical examiners, coroners, physicians, or other healthcare providers.
