Best Practices Workshop: Combined Effects of Chemicals and Noise on Hearing
The following presentations are from the “Best Practices Workshop: Combined Effects of Chemicals and Noise on Hearing” which was held in Cincinnati, Ohio, on April 11-12, 2002. It was co-sponsored by the NIOSH NORA Hearing Loss Team and the National Hearing Conservation Association (NHCA). The aim of this workshop was to provide hearing loss prevention professionals with an overview of the current state of the art on the effects of industrial chemicals on the auditory system, as well as initiate discussions that would identify research priorities and specific goals.

2003 Best Practices Workshop: Impulse Type Noise
This was the third National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA) Hearing Loss Team Best Practices Workshop co-sponsored with the National Hearing Conservation Association. This workshop brought together the leading international experts on impulsive noise from labor, industry, and government with an overview of the current state of the art concerning the effects of impulse noise on the auditory system, to develop strategies for the measurement and characterization of impulsive noise, and to identify specific goals and future research priorities. These experts provided their views and data on the first day of the workshop in plenary sessions and then participated in working groups on the second day.
