Activities Proposed for FY 05
Antimicrobial Resistance, Food Safety, Hepatitis Prevention and Control, Influenza Surveillance and Response, National Electronic Disease Surveillance System, and West Nile Virus
Key Performance Indicators
Antimicrobial Resistance
- Analyze antibiotic-use data.
- Antibiotic resistance coalitions will review and synchronize activities based on analysis of antibiotic-use data and Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey (BRFSS) data.
Food Safety
- Eighty percent of reported outbreaks will have all key variables completed within EFORS and 75 percent will be entered into the system within 60 days of onset of the first case by FY06.
Hepatitis Prevention and Control
- Ensure that at least 50 percent of veteran HIV/STD clinic and field professionals have completed "HCV Fundamentals Course" and at least 75 percent of newly hired HIV/STD personnel have completed the "HIV Fundamentals course" containing HCV education component.
- The HCV Coordinator and HCV Nurse Educator will conduct 12 meetings with personnel from each DHSS district office HIV/STD program and HIV/STD personnel in St. Louis City, Kansas City, and Springfield Health Departments, to assess the progress of the HCV training program.
- The HCVPC will meet four times (quarterly) with personnel from the Office of Surveillance to discuss the status of HCV reporting.
Influenza Surveillance and Response
- Success will be measured through the correct identification of isolates.
National Electronic Disease Surveillance System
- To implement electronic alerts to notify state and local public health authorities when syndromes exceed tolerances.
- To increase the number of in-state agencies and individuals submitting data for NEDSS.
West Nile Virus
- Increase from two to six the number of city/county health department mosquito surveillance contractors that map larval breeding sites.
- Increase from two to six the number of city/county health department mosquito surveillance contractors that sort and eliminate non-mosquitoes.
