Activities Proposed for FY 05
Antimicrobial Resistance, Food Safety, Hepatitis Prevention and Control, Influenza Surveillance and Response, National Electronic Disease Surveillance System, West Nile Virus, and General Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity
Key Performance Indicators
Antimicrobial Resistance
- Practical statewide surveillance of MRSA.
- Attendance at antibiotic resistance campaign presentations by health care providers and lay public.
- Utilization of web site materials by physicians and public.
- Hospitals in BSP produce and utilize antibiograms.
- Decrease in antibiotic resistance in bloodstream infection in BSP hospitals.
- Increase in reporting of DRSP and VRE.
Food Safety
- The number and percent of foodborne outbreaks for which the etiology is determined.
- The number and percent of foodborne outbreaks for which patient specimens are obtained.
- The number and percent that are reported to CDC.
Hepatitis Prevention and Control
- Documentation of training program implementation.
- Documentation of planning processes.
Influenza Surveillance and Response
- Assessment of timeliness and completeness of sentinel provider reporting and reporting to the website by the District Surveillance Nurses will be assessed by the Influenza Surveillance Coordinator.
National Electronic Disease Surveillance System
West Nile Virus
- Reference Labs (RL's) performance is evaluated by comparing RL results to MDH and or CDC results on the same individual.
- Evaluation of the MDH PHL's ELISA capture IgM ELISA West Nile Virus testing is done by comparing results to CDC Ft. Collins' test results (IgM capture ELISA, PRNT, or both).
General Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity
- Continue to have no land animal rabies.
- Continue to have capacity for investigation and response to zoonotic diseases and toxicological issues.
