Activities Proposed for FY 05
Antimicrobial Resistance, Food Safety, Hepatitis Prevention and Control, Influenza Surveillance and Response, National Electronic Disease Surveillance System, West Nile Virus, and General Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity
Key Performance Indicators
Antimicrobial Resistance
- Continue ICARES expansion statewide, involving physicians and patients in one Central Indiana Hospital Health Plan network.
Food Safety
- Ensure methods improve based on county health department personnel attending regional seminars and utilizing the Foodborne Disease Reference Manual.
Hepatitis Prevention and Control
- Increase the number of Local Health Departments incorporating Hepatitis A and B vaccines.
Influenza Surveillance and Response
- The ISDH reports to the CDC on a weekly basis via the NEDS.
National Electronic Disease Surveillance System
- Ensure accuracy of disease surveillance statistics.
West Nile Virus
- Provide the citizens of Indiana (and organizations responsible for control and prevention) with timely data which could be used to reduce human morbidity and mortality.
General Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity
- Selected candidates attend a national meeting on relevant topics.
