Activities Proposed for FY 05

Food Safety, Hepatitis Prevention and Control, Influenza Surveillance and Response, National Electronic Disease Surveillance System, West Nile Virus, and General Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity


Key Performance Indicators

Food Safety
  • Increase data input into the foodborne complaint database and generate reports by date, geographic area, symptoms, and suspect food items.
  • Conduct confirmatory testing ad attempted to identify E. coli in all shiga toxin-positive broths submitted to the State Laboratory.
Hepatitis Prevention and Control
  • Evaluation tools will demonstrate effective and well-received programs.
  • Less calls from the public related to information that can be accessed on the internet.
Influenza Surveillance and Response
  • Conduct periodic assessments of provider participation in the sentinel system.
  • Maintain the Sentinel Provider Surveillance System year-round, beyond the influenza season.
  • Number of physicians enrolled in the Sentinel Provider Surveillance System.
National Electronic Disease Surveillance System
  • Laboratory reporting uses PHIN standards and complies with recommended CDC coding of laboratory results.
West Nile Virus
  • The processes are measured by a description of the progress made in maintaining the surveillance systems.
General Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity
  • Number of patients reached.
