Activities Proposed for FY 05

Antimicrobial Resistance, Border Infectious Disease Surveillance (BIDS), Food Safety, Hepatitis Prevention and Control, Influenza Surveillance and Response, National Electronic Disease Surveillance System, and West Nile Virus


Key Performance Indicators

Antimicrobial Resistance
  • Attend CDC's Antibiotic Resistance Conference in Atlanta, GA.
Food Safety
  • Frequency and design of statistical reports.
  • Report on Norovirus statistics in Arizona.
Hepatitis Prevention and Control
  • Regular status reports from personnel will detail results and surveillance findings pertinent to Hepatitis C.
Influenza Surveillance and Response
  • Provide statistics on lab-confirmed influenza cases and death data cross matching.
  • Report on the number of sentinel sites and their geographic distribution as well as statistics on reporting frequency of existing sentinel sites.
  • Report on the number of specimens typed using PCR.
National Electronic Disease Surveillance System
  • Documentation through CDC's annual progress report and continued collaboration through conference calls with CDC/CSC support teams.
West Nile Virus
  • Methods development was begun on the PRNT test in June, 2004.
General Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity
  • The director will quarterly assess the progress towards development of pertussis Investigations.
