CE09-002: Adaptations to Effective Programs to Engage Fathers in Child Maltreatment Prevention
Initial Fiscal Year: 2009
Program: ERPO
FOA Number: CE09-002
FOA Title: Adaptations to Effective Programs to Engage Fathers in Child Maltreatment Prevention
Purpose
The purpose of this program of research is to develop and pilot test adaptations to existing evidence-based parenting programs that may prevent child maltreatment to target father or male caregiver involvement and engagement in the program. Evaluation outcomes of interest include father/male caregiver engagement; parenting behaviors and male caregiver-child relationships; and child behavior outcomes. For the purpose of the RFA, male caregivers are defined as male individuals who provide stable child care. A parenting program is considered to be evidence-based if it has been previously evaluated using a randomized- or quasi-experimental design with evidence of positive effects on parenting and/or child behavior outcomes.
