HIV Epidemic
Fact Sheets
These fact sheets contain results from the
Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) and
School Health Profiles (Profiles) related to the HIV Epidemic. The YRBS
results describe the problem by identifying the percent of high school
students who engage in sexual risk behaviors. The Profiles results describe
characteristics of health education, and the school environment among
middle/junior and senior high schools that may help address the problem and
protect HIV-infected students and staff.

1. States and districts listed
above had weighted data for both YRBS and School Health
Profiles. Weighted data means that at least 70% of the
respondents in the sample completed the survey. Weighted data
represent the state or district. With weighted data, it is
possible to say, for example, "X% of high school students in our
state had ever had sexual intercourse."
