What topics have been considered for rapid evaluation?
In the past, CDC’s Division of Adolescent and School Health (DASH)
has conducted rapid evaluations of initiatives focused on school asthma
management, physical activity, nutrition, and safe school environments.
Additional topics will be considered for future rapid evaluation
projects.
How can my initiative be considered for a rapid evaluation?
DASH periodically solicits nominations for outstanding initiatives
addressing a specific topic area. Visit the
Nominations page for future calls for nominations.
Does my initiative need to be funded by DASH to be eligible to receive a rapid evaluation?
No. All initiatives, whether or not they are funded by DASH or CDC,
are eligible to participate in rapid evaluations.
Does my initiative need previous evaluation experience to participate in a rapid evaluation?
No. Previous evaluation experience is not a requirement, but it can
be beneficial to help you get the most out of the rapid evaluation
process.
What type of research designs are used in rapid evaluations?
Rapid evaluations generally use nonexperimental or quasi-experimental
methods. Randomized control trials are not conducted as part of rapid
evaluations.
Does rapid evaluation provide additional funding or staff for my initiative?
No. All funding and staff associated with the rapid evaluation are
designated for evaluation activities only.
My initiative does not have the time and resources for additional evaluation activities. Should I be interested in rapid evaluation?
Yes. The majority of work associated with the rapid evaluation is
carried out by a DASH evaluation contractor; your program makes a
commitment to assist with planning and interpretation of results. During
the rapid evaluation, DASH and the evaluation contractor will work with
your program to provide technical assistance by identifying evaluation
questions; collecting, managing, and analyzing data; and disseminating
findings. DASH and the evaluation contractor also provide incentives for
participation and hire on-site staff to assist with data collection and
other evaluation logistics.
