Update on the Multistate Outbreak of Fungal Meningitis and Other Infections
December 20, 2012
Data collected in the ongoing outbreak of fungal meningitis and other infections has demonstrated the importance of MRIs in order to diagnose focal infections and has led to CDC recommending new guidelines to clinicians concerning the clinical management of patients. In this webinar, CDC discusses these findings and the updated recommendations. Leading the discussion with CDC is Dr. Anu Malani an Infectious Disease physician and Dr. Michael Kasotakis a neuroradiologist, both from St. Joseph Mercy Health System in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Both Drs. Malani and Kasotakis have significant experience managing patients with fungal infections associated with contaminated methylprednisolone injection and present a series of cases to highlight current clinical presentations, diagnostic findings, and treatment strategies for these infections. A question and answer session follows the presentation.
