Introduction

Importance of this Course to Allied Health Professionals

Health care providers from many disciplines play an important role in helping people with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) regain function. They can also assist them, their families, friends and employers to more effectively cope with this poorly understood and debilitating illness. Currently, behavioral management and rehabilitation strategies comprise the mainstay of therapy for CFS; they often help to reduce the severity of symptoms and to improve quality of life. Counseling can also help patients make prudent lifestyle adjustments and assist with development of improved coping skills to help people better manage a chronic illness like CFS.
