Continuing Education Promotional Material Checklist

Use this checklist as a guide when developing promotional material for your educational activity.

ACPE ACCME

A.     Educational goals or specific, measurable performance objectives. Verbs for performance objectives must elicit or describe observable or measurable behaviors on the part of program participants (i.e., avoid using understand, learn, and similar terms that cannot be quantified).

A.    The accreditation statement does not need to be included on initial, save-the-date type activity announcements.  Such announcements contain only general, preliminary information about the activity like the date, location, and title.

B.    Target audience. Precisely describe the kinds of professionals who will benefit from the program (e.g., pharmacists or pharmacist technicians).

B.  None of the elements of journal-based CME can contain any advertising or product group messages of ‘commercial interests’. The learner must not encounter advertising within the pages of the article or within the pages of the related questions or evaluation material.

C.    Name of faculty, degree, title, and place of employment.

  C.  Once the activity is approved for CE  more specific information is included, like faculty and objectives,  and the accreditation statement must be included. 

D.  Fees or refund information, including “no fee,” when applicable.

 

E.    Schedule of educational activities, including location and time of program.

 

F.     Educational activities (those assigned CEUs) distinguished from noneducational activities (i.e., lunch or refreshment breaks) (e.g., 12:00–12:30 p.m., Lunch; 12:30–1:30 p.m., Educational program.

 

G.    Amount of credit in contact hours or CEUs (not “CEs”).

 

H.    Official Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) logo and trademark symbol (®) next to logo.

 

J.     Provider statement: “[Name of Provider] is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education” or “[Names of Providers] are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as providers of continuing pharmacy education.”

 

K.    Universal Program Number.

 

L.     Full description of requirements for credit (e.g., sign-in sheet or evaluation form).

 

M.    Acknowledgment of financial support if applicable.

 

N.    Initial release date for live programs that are repeated or for home-study programs.

 

O.    Statement of when and how a statement of credit will be issued.
