Slide 37 — Shared Decision Making for Other Clinical Decisions

Talking Points

Shared decision making for prostate cancer is similar to many other clinical decisions, including choosing among:

  • Sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, and/or fecal occult blood test for colorectal cancer screening.
  • Metformin and/or lifestyle changes for glucose intolerance.
  • Treatments for ischemic heart disease.
  • Hormone replacement therapies or no therapy.
