During 2005–2009, the greatest percentage of suicides occurred by firearm, suffocation, and poisoning for all race/ethnicity groups among those 25 to 64 years with a higher percentage of suicides by suffocation among Asian/Pacific Islanders (45.3%) and a higher percentage of suicides by firearm among Non-Hispanic Whites (48.7%) and Non-Hispanic Blacks (47.8%). The highest percentages of suicides by poisoning were among the Non-Hispanic Whites (22.3%) and American Indian/Alaskan Natives (19.0%).
