Learning Opportunities

TB Education and Training Network (ETN) and TB Program Evaluation Network (PEN) Conference is September 17-19, 2024 in Atlanta, Georgia

 

We are pleased to announce the 2024 TB ETN and TB PEN Conference taking place September 17–19, 2024 in Atlanta, Georgia. This conference is jointly sponsored by TB ETN and TB PEN and presents a unique opportunity for TB program staff to expand their understanding of TB education, training, and program evaluation. After a several year absence, we are delighted to host the TB ETN and TB PEN Conference in 2024.  We are eager to share updated information and best practices, as well as facilitate networking opportunities amongst conference attendees. Participants will learn from recognized experts in their field and from each other.

In addition, there will be an ETN Focal Point meeting (September 18th) and the PEN Roundtable Session with CDC Program Evaluation Consultants (September 17th).

Everyone attending the conference, including speakers, must complete and return a registration form by August 16, 2024. There is no registration fee.

Preliminary Agenda
Tuesday, September 17
7:30am-8:45am Registration and Pre-Conference New Member Orientation

New members and first-time attendees will learn about TB ETN and TB PEN and resources available to them. This is an opportunity for participants to network with ETN and PEN leaders and members.

8:45am-10:00am Welcome and Opening Remarks
10:00am-4:30pm Breakout Sessions and Plenaries

Topics will include how TB education, training, and evaluation play key roles in eliminating TB. Participants will also have an opportunity to view conference posters selected from submitted abstracts.

Wednesday, September 18
8:30am-4:45pm Breakout Sessions and Plenaries

Topics will include TB survivor stories, ETN and PEN breakouts, and facilitator-led round tables for trainers, educators, and evaluators. There will be a wide variety of ETN and PEN skills-based workshops, informational presentations, and networking opportunities.

Thursday, September 19
8:30am-12:30pm Plenaries

Topics will include presentations selected from winning abstracts, health equity and TB, and closing remarks.

Conference Venue

All conference sessions will be held at the Marriott Courtyard Decatur,130 Clairemont Avenue, Decatur, Georgia, 30030.

Lodging

The CDC has reserved a block of sleeping rooms at the Marriott Courtyard Decatur and the Hampton Inn at the Federal government rate of $173/night, plus tax. The Hampton Inn is next door to the Marriot Courtyard Decatur. Conference participants are responsible for making their own hotel reservations by August 16, 2024. Participants may reserve a room at either hotel by phone or online:

Meals

Participants are responsible for the cost of their meals. There are a variety of dining options in Decatur within walking distance.

Transportation

MARTA is an option to travel to and from the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Decatur. The Decatur MARTA station is a few blocks from both the Courtyard Marriott Decatur and the Hampton Inn. The hotels do not provide a shuttle service.

The TB ETN Webinar Series features education and training projects and activities from state and local TB programs around the country. The TB ETN Workgroup, with input from the larger TB ETN membership, selects webinar topics. Archived presentations are available.

Steering Committee & Conference Planning Workgroup

The TB ETN steering committee and Conference Planning Workgroup consists of state partners, CDC representatives, and the TB Centers of Excellence for Training, Education, and Medical Consultation.

Join TB ETN

Membership includes representatives from local, state, and international TB programs, correctional facilities, hospitals, nursing homes, federal agencies, universities, the TB Centers of Excellence, and other partners interested in TB education and training.

Membership to the TB ETN is open to all persons who have an interest in TB education and training. There are no membership fees. To join TB ETN, please send a request to tbetn@cdc.gov.
