Efforts of a Kansas Foundation to Increase Physical Activity and Improve Health by Funding Community Trails, 2012

Themes identified for the collaborative process of building the trails were collaboration among groups, additional costs for trail construction, champions for the trails, and level of difficulty for trail construction. For the integration of trails within communities, key themes were promotional events held at the trails, other promotional efforts, and trail maintenance. For the impact of the trials within communities, key themes were serving as a community resource for physical activity, generating additional trail-related projects, and physical activity from trail use.
