Public Presentation
HTDS is a study of thyroid disease among people who were exposed to radioactive iodine (iodine-131) from the Hanford Nuclear Site in Washington State. The exposures occurred from 1944 through 1957.
The question of the study was, "Did exposure to iodine-131 from Hanford result in increased incidence of thyroid disease?"
CDC and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center released the Final Report in June 2002.
