Oklahoma's Program In Action

Providing HIV Prevention Education

• Collaborating with the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse to increase the number of skilled trainers available by providing Train the Trainer workshops on HIV prevention education.
   
• Providing professional development to teachers on enhancing the quality of HIV prevention education for young people.
   
• Assessing policies in place to support HIV Prevention Education and supporting the adoption of model policies.

Conducting the Youth Risk Behavior Survey

• Developing a report comparing the state and national YRBS data.
   
• Disseminating the results of the YRBS to schools, communities, policy makers, and other state agencies for the purpose of strategic planning, budgeting, policy development, and program planning and design.
   
• Collaborating with the Oklahoma Department of Health to design and disseminate an awareness campaign for the YRBS.
