Past Program Activities, 2003–2008
North Dakota, 2003–2008
From March 2003–February 2008, North Dakota received funding from CDC’s
Division of Adolescent and School Health to promote coordinated school
health, provide HIV prevention education, and conduct the Youth Risk
Behavior Survey (YRBS).For information on North Dakota's

Past Program Activities
Promoted Coordinated School Health with an Emphasis on Physical Activity, Nutrition, and Tobacco
Use Prevention (PANT)
- Provided leadership to a school health interagency workgroup to
facilitate collaboration among state agencies to improve physical
activity, nutrition, and tobacco use prevention and support educational
achievement for students.
- Provided statewide CSHP professional development by sponsoring an
annual health promotion conference, summer credit classes, and training
events.
- Worked with CSHP demonstration sites on local policy changes and
initiatives.
Provided HIV
Prevention Education
- Developed and provided an HIV model school policy to local
education agencies.
- Provided professional development for the members of the HIV/AIDS
training cadre on HIV prevention education curricula and teaching
strategies.
- Provided leadership trainings in delivering HIV/STD prevention
education.
Conducted the Youth Risk Behavior Survey
- Collected YRBS data that are representative of students in grades 7−12 across the state.
- Collaborated with the Department of Public Instruction, Department
of Health, and other state agency partners to fund, administer, analyze,
and market the YRBS.
- Distributed YRBS state and regional reports to partner agencies,
district staff, and community-based organizations via the Internet.
