  • The National Program of Cancer Registries-Advancing E-cancer Reporting and Registry Operations (NPCR-AERRO) Team convenes the following workgroups in collaboration with cancer community partners to accomplish project activities—

Hospital Operations Workgroup: The focus of this group is on creating and enhancing automation of hospital health records and cancer registration processes as they relate to electronic reporting.

Central Cancer Registry Workgroup: The focus of this group is on developing guidelines and recommendations for central registries to use electronic reporting and automation, and developing an implementation strategy for electronic reporting.

Cancer Control and Data Use Workgroup: The focus of this group is on evaluation of electronic reporting of cancer data and adoption of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to enhance use of cancer surveillance data.

eHealth Initiatives: Activities in this area are focused on working with national and international organizations to provide representation from the cancer registry community in the forefront of the EHR development initiatives. Many national and international eHealth activities are contributing to the development of the EHR. NPCR-AERRO ensures that the needs of cancer registries are addressed in eHealth activities whenever possible.

Electronic Pathology (ePath) Reporting: Activities in this area are focused on electronic anatomical pathology reporting from laboratories to state central cancer registries.

Each workgroup or activity produces a report of findings as well as related technical documentation. Refer to the corresponding workgroup pages for links to completed documents.
