Eligibility and Application Information

 

Eligibility

To be eligible you must —

• Be a medical student in your 2nd or 3rd year of medical school at time of application
• Be willing to relocate to Atlanta, Georgia for the duration of the fellowship

Education

You must be enrolled in a medical school accredited by one of the following:

• Liaison Committee on Medical Education
• American Osteopathic Association

Experience

Clinical or clerkship experience is preferred.

Citizenship

You must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident.

September 7, 2012	Application period opens

February 23, 2013	Candidate interviews in Atlanta
March 15, 2013	Selected applicants notified
March 29, 2013	Candidates’ decisions due (1:00 P.M., ET)

Supporting Documents

Supporting documents must be postmarked by the deadline.

 

Letters of Recommendation

• Three letters of recommendation are required
• emailed or faxed letters are not acceptable
• Provide recommenders with a copy of Instructions for Letters of Recommendation
• Letters should be from persons who know you professionally, are familiar with your achievements and future aspirations, and can speak to your personal qualities and professional attributes
  • At least one letter must be from a medical school faculty member
  • One letter must be from your dean of student affairs (or equivalent), which must include approval for a 10–12 month absence from medical school to attend the fellowship

 

Transcripts

• Provide official copies of undergraduate, graduate (if applicable) and medical school transcripts
• High school transcripts are not required
