Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): Tool to Develop Health Information for Adults with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities and Extreme Low Literacy
All people, regardless of their literacy skills, need and deserve access to health information that they can understand and use. Creators of the tool reviewed research conducted with adults with IDD/ELL and did audience testing with representatives from this group and their caregivers. The tool, appropriately titled, “How to Develop Products for Adults with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities and Extreme Low Literacy,” includes a user guide, a score sheet with questions about your material, and instructions on calculating and interpreting your material’s score.
For questions about the tool, email HEGuidingPrinciples@cdc.gov.
