Developed by national infection prevention experts, the curriculum focuses on foundational and HAI-specific prevention practices. There are 3 training modules that cover competency based training, audits and feedback.

• CBT 101 Defines competency-based training and describes key components to consider when designing infection prevention training.
• CBT 102 describes the importance of conductin infection prevention audits and how audits can be performed and implemented as part of an infection prevention surveillance program.
• CBT 103 highlights essential components of effective feedback and discusses strategies to deliver feedback effectively.

At the conclusion of the session, the participant will be able to:

1. Define competency-based training at the completion of the module set.
2. Describe the key components of a competency- based training program for infection prevention at the completion of the module set.
3. Describe how to design and implement audits for infection prevention practices at the completion of the module set.

• CAUTI104: Reviews Tier 1 interventions such as including indwelling urinary catheter insertion and maintenance bundles and highlights the importance of proper catheter insertion and care as a means to prevent CAUTI.
• CAUTI105: An overview of Tier 1 strategies, antibiotic stewardship, and lab testing stewardship and how they play a crucial role in CAUTI.
• CAUTI201: Reviews using the CAUTI GPS and the TAP to establish focused goals and evaluate possible barriers to implementation of CAUTI prevention strategies. Introduction to Tier 2 CAUTI prevention strategies.
• CAUTI202: Outlines Tier 2 CAUTI prevention strategies and how to implement complex interventions such as conducting catheter rounds with targeted education, providing infection and catheter utilization metrics to frontline staff, observing and documenting competencies, and performing a full root cause analysis of every CAUTI.

• MRSA 101: Provides background information on the impact MRSA has on patients, the pathogenesis of MRSA and Tier 1 strategies to prevent MRSA bacteremia.
• MRSA 102: Reviews the importance of Tier 1 strategies such as conducting a MRSA risk assessment to prioritize prevention strategies, what data to use in the MRSA risk assessment and how to use the risk assessment to drive MRSA prevention actions.
• MRSA 103: Identifies Tier 1 strategies that can be used to reduce MRSA transmission in hospitals. This module also reviews the advantages of horizontal infection prevention strategies and the importance of following recommendations and best practices.
• MRSA 201: Reviews conducting a needs assessment using a MRSA GPS to evaluate possible barriers to implementation of MRSA bacteremia prevention strategies. Provides an introduction to Tier 2 MRSA prevention strategies.
• MRSA 202: Outlines Tier 2 enhanced MRSA prevention strategies and how to implement them. These strategies include implementing daily chlorhexidine bathing for at-risk populations, decolonizing patients colonized with MRSA, performing Active Surveillance Testing (AST) for high-risk patient populations and implementing gowning and gloving for all ICU patients.

At the conclusion of the session, the participant will be able to:

1. Describe a tiered approach to methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacteremia prevention.
2. Describe the components of the MRSA Guide to Patient Safety (GPS) tool.
3. Explain how the GPS assessment can be used to identify barriers to MRSA bacteremia prevention.
4. Identify the enhanced Tier 2 strategies that can be used to reduce MRSA transmission and infection.
5. List one way to improve collaborative practice across the infection control team.

3. Explain how the GPS assessment can be used to identify barriers to CLABSI prevention.
4. Identify the enhanced Tier 2 strategies that can be used to prevention CLABSI.
