Union World Conference on Lung Health 2016
CDC is pleased to attend the 47th annual Union World Conference on Lung Health alongside the world’s top scientific researchers in the field. As the leading public health agency for the United States, CDC works, both at home and around the world, to respond to public health threats when they arise. CDC’s Division of Global HIV & TB (DGHT) works side by side with Ministries of Health, community organizations and other partners in 25 countries to find, cure and prevent global tuberculosis (TB).
At this year’s Union World Conference on Lung Health, CDC researchers will be presenting new research by way of symposiums, courses, oral abstract sessions and poster presentations.

“Imagine a future where everyone with TB was diagnosed quickly, started on effective treatment - a regimen lasting only a few weeks - and a cure was nearly universal. By pairing global efforts to improve public health response capabilities with proven interventions to strengthen TB control, we can improve the lives of people with TB and avert the suffering and cost associated with this deadly disease.”
Dr. Tom Frieden, MD, MPH
Director, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
