Fee-for-service health insurance

Private (commercial) health insurance that reimburses health care providers on the basis of a fee for each health service provided to the insured person. In addition, fee-for-service is a term often applied to original or traditional Medicare, to distinguish it from Medicare managed-care plans and other new payment systems.
