Dear Clinical and Public Health Laboratory Partners,

In case you missed it, we wanted to make you aware of a CDC Health Advisory sent out on September 13th, 2017 regarding an investigation of Brucella RB51 exposures and illnesses that may be connected to the purchase and consumption of raw (unpasteurized) milk from K-Bar Dairy in Paradise, Texas. This message has been sent to public health laboratories and some clinical laboratories through the Laboratory Response Network and APHL. Laboratories should be aware of these potential samples and follow appropriate precautions for handling blood cultures that may contain Brucella.
