National Surveillance Team - Enteric Diseases Epidemiology Branch

The National Surveillance Team of the Enteric Diseases Epidemiology Branch collects, analyzes, and disseminates national surveillance data on bacterial foodborne illnesses and antimicrobial-resistant enteric pathogens in order to detect outbreaks, monitor trends, and measure the effectiveness of prevention programs, with a goal of decreasing the burden of acute bacterial enteric illnesses in the United States.

Programs and Projects

  • National Case Surveillance
  • Collects and monitors surveillance data for infections caused by Campylobacter, Clostridium botulinum, Listeria, Salmonella, Shigella, Shiga toxin-producing E. coli 0157, and Vibrio species.
