The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) maintains the State Unintentional Drug Overdose Reporting System (SUDORS) to provide comprehensive information on drug overdose deaths. Funded jurisdictions collect and abstract data for unintentional and undetermined intent drug overdose deaths from death certificates and medical examiner/coroner reports (including scene findings, autopsy reports, and full postmortem toxicology findings) for entry into a web-based CDC platform that is shared with the National Violent Death Reporting System.

  • Overdose Data to Action in States (OD2A-States) supports jurisdictions (49 states and Washington, DC) in collecting high quality, comprehensive, and timely data on nonfatal and fatal overdoses and in using those data to inform prevention and response efforts. OD2A-States focuses on understanding and tracking the complex and changing nature of the drug overdose epidemic and highlights the need for seamless integration of data into prevention strategies.
