Program Strategy Unit Lead

Jenny Kohr

Jenny Kohr is the Program Strategy Unit Lead in the Performance and Evaluation Office (PEO). Her team consults with programs across CDC, offering tools and resources, guidance, and facilitated sessions to equip programs to think proactively about their projects and produce clear, high quality Notices of Funding Opportunity that result in progress toward CDC’s strategic objectives. Jenny uses her extensive experience in facilitating groups, decision-making, and organizational change to inform PEO’s consultation to programs.

Prior to joining PEO in 2015, Jenny spent 10 years working for several divisions throughout the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. She started as an ORISE fellow for the Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity and then moved into a project officer role, focused on program planning and social marketing. She coordinated program, training, and evaluation work across teams with a role on the Communities Putting Prevention to Work team, where she also authored funding announcements, managed large objective review panels, and consulted on many division planning projects. In 2013, she joined the Division of Population Health as a project officer for the School Health Branch. There, she worked on several projects to improve project officer experience with program data, in addition to providing guidance and technical assistance to ten states across the Midwest.

Jenny received her master’s in public health from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Elon University.
