ABES Results

ABES was completed by a nationally representative sample of high school students, from January-June 2021. Results show the COVID-19 pandemic had a negative impact on youth in several areas described in the tables below.

Background

CDC developed the Adolescent Behaviors and Experiences Survey (ABES) to assess the impact of COVID-19 on behaviors and experiences of U.S. high school students.

ABES was administered during the spring 2021 academic semester, from January – June, 2021. A total of 7,998 students participated in ABES, representing 128 schools. After processing, valid data were gathered from 7,705 questionnaires.
