NIVDP organized the Yo me vacuno (I get vaccinated) children’s coloring contest with partners in East Los Angeles – South LA Health Projects, Resurrection Center, and White Memorial Medical Center – to promote flu vaccination among Latino families. There were 300 entries received for the contest, and several of the top contestants were honored during a press conference at White Memorial Medical Center on December 12, 2013.

Sara Rubacalva-Beck, Communications and Marketing Manager at White Memorial Medical Center, and Jimmy Gomez, California Assemblymember, posed for photos with some of the contest winners. A popular Latino cartoonist, Lalo Alcaraz, who helped judge the entries, also congratulates the contest winners and encourages flu vaccination in his video message [3.5 MB].
