10/07/2021: Lab Alert: CDC Updates LOINC In Vitro Diagnostic (LIVD) Test Code Mapping Tool for SARS-CoV-2 Tests

CDC recently updated its LOINC In Vitro Diagnostic (LIVD) Test Code Mapping Tool for SARS-CoV-2 tests. The changes include
- An update to the BioFire® Defense COVID-19 Test LOINC, which was changed to 95608-6 to accommodate the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) addendum for multiple specimen types. The original EUA was only for nasopharyngeal specimens.
- A new column for Publication Version ID Last Changed in the tool’s release notes to make it easier to identify the most recent changes. The most recent changes are displayed first, then sorted alphabetically by manufacturer/model/analyte.
