11/21/2017: Lab Advisory: People in Four States May Be Drinking Contaminated Raw Milk

CDC's Laboratory Outreach Communication System (LOCS)

Dear Clinical and Public Health Laboratory Partners,

We wanted to share with you the CDC Press Release sent on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 regarding a warning to people who might have consumed contaminated raw milk and milk products to visit their doctor. People who bought and drank raw milk from a company called Udder Milk may have been infected with a rare but potentially serious germ called Brucella abortus RB51. Laboratories should be aware of these potential samples and follow appropriate precautions for handling blood cultures that may contain Brucella.  To learn more, please click here.
