U.S. Mpox Case Trends Reported to CDC

Data as Reported to CDC as of 02 May 2024 2:00 PM EDT

As of May 1, 2024, U.S. mpox case trends data will be updated the first week of every month. The majority of U.S. cases continue to be in people who are not vaccinated or who have only received one dose of JYNNEOS. Two doses of JYNNEOS are recommended to provide maximum protection.

Trends of mpox cases reported to CDC during the 2022 outbreak by date*

* Date is defined as the earliest date available regarding the case, beginning with date of illness onset, diagnosis date, positive laboratory test report date, CDC call center reporting date, or case data entry date into CDC’s emergency response common operating platform, DCIPHER.

Case counts include those who tested positive for either mpox virus or orthopoxvirus as described in the case definition.

** The 7-day moving average (denoted by the orange line) calculates the average number of cases per day in the previous 7 days.
