SCBA/End-Of-Service Life Indicator

2004
NIOSH Docket Number 034

Paragraph (f) of Section 84.83 in Title 42, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 84, requires that a service life indicator or warning device to give an alarm when a self contained breathing apparatus remaining service life is reduced to within a range of 20 to 25 percent of its rated service time. It has been suggested by stakeholders that the upper limit of the range be eliminated. NIOSH is seeking comments regarding the modification of the performance requirement for the end of service life indicator.
