NVSS Modernization Community of Practice Offerings

The NVSS Modernization Community of Practice strives
To support the modernization of the National Vital Statistics System using FHIR based interoperability by providing and promoting opportunities for training, technical assistance, engagement and connection

Collaborates with NCHS partners
Including MITRE, CTE, National Association for Public Health Statistics and Information Systems (NAPHSIS), CDC Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Prevention and Control of Emerging Infectious Diseases (ELC) program and Jurisdictional Vital Records Offices (VROs) to advance modernization efforts

Provides opportunities for virtual testing of FHIR-based interoperability across the mortality and natality workflows by organizing
NCHS hosted testing events (quarterly offerings)

Maintains a dashboard of NVSS modernization efforts
To keep a pulse on progress made in the vital records ecosystem with FHIR-based interoperability

    Opportunities for jurisdictions and partners to strengthen their modernization efforts through structured testing events
    • Prep calls organized several weeks in advance and include review of detailed test plans, tools and technical assistance
