Bryce D. Smith, Ph.D., is a Lead Health Scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the Division of Viral Hepatitis and currently serves as the Lead for the Prevention Research and Evaluation Team. Dr. Smith has been in the Division for four years and his research has concentrated on hepatitis C prevention issues including screening interventions and policy, economic analyses, rapid testing, primary and secondary prevention with persons who inject drugs, and health services research. Dr. Smith recently led laboratory and field evaluations of HCV rapid point of care tests and is the first author on the Recommendations for the Identification Chronic Hepatitis C Virus Infection Among Persons Born during 1945–1965. Prior to working in hepatitis, he worked in the Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention at CDC.
