Geographic Patterns: Stroke Hospitalization Rates for 2018 through 2020 for Whites Aged 65 Years and Older by County. The map shows that concentrations of counties with the highest stroke hospitalization rates – meaning the top quintile – are located primarily in the Southeast, with heavy concentrations of high-rate counties in Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Georgia, West Virginia, Michigan, North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Louisiana. Pockets of high-rate counties also are found in South Carolina, Florida, Illinois, Indiana and Delaware.
