Purpose

The TB Education and Training Network (TB ETN) collaborates with partners on TB education and training skills-building activities, shares information about TB learning opportunities, and highlights TB education and training efforts by local, state, and international partners.

Membership to TB ETN is open to all persons who have an interest in TB education and training. There are no membership fees.

TB ETN and TB Program Evaluation Network (PEN) Conference

About the conference

The 2024 TB ETN and TB PEN Conference will be September 17–19, 2024 in Atlanta, Georgia.

This conference is jointly sponsored by TB ETN and TB PEN. It presents a unique opportunity for TB program staff to expand their understanding of TB education, training, and program evaluation.

We are eager to share updated information and best practices, as well as facilitate networking opportunities amongst conference attendees. Participants will learn from recognized experts in their field and from each other.

In addition, there will be an ETN Focal Point meeting (September 18, 2024) and the PEN Roundtable Session with CDC Program Evaluation Consultants (September 17, 2024).

Registration

Everyone attending the conference, including speakers, must complete and return a registration form by August 16, 2024. There is no registration fee.

Call for poster session abstracts

Information for authors

  • Abstracts for poster presentations will be selected based on appropriateness of topic, quality, and innovation.
  • Some posters may also be selected for an oral presentation.
  • Authors may submit abstracts that have been presented at other conferences.
  • At least one co-author must attend the conference to present the poster. Travel scholarships for poster presenters will not be provided.
  • TB ETN poster abstracts should be related to TB education, training, communication, and behavioral studies. Information presented can include, but is not limited to, needs assessment, development, pilot testing, implementation, and evaluation of relevant activities.
  • TB PEN poster abstracts should be related to TB program evaluation, such as capacity building, engagement in monitoring and evaluation, sharing lessons learned from evaluation, and using evaluation findings to make program improvements.

Tuesday, September 17
7:30 am - 8:45 am Registration and Pre-Conference New Member Orientation

New members and first-time attendees will learn about TB ETN and TB PEN and resources available to them. This is an opportunity for participants to network with ETN and PEN leaders and members.

8:45 am - 10:00 am Welcome and Opening Remarks
10:00 am - 4:30 pm Breakout Sessions and Plenaries

Topics will include how TB education, training, and evaluation play key roles in eliminating TB. Participants will also have an opportunity to view conference posters selected from submitted abstracts.

Wednesday, September 18
8:30 am - 4:45 pm Breakout Sessions and Plenaries

Topics will include TB survivor stories, ETN and PEN breakouts, and facilitator-led round tables for trainers, educators, and evaluators. There will be a wide variety of ETN and PEN skills-based workshops, informational presentations, and networking opportunities.

Thursday, September 19
8:30 am - 12:30 pm Plenaries

Topics will include presentations selected from winning abstracts, health equity and TB, and closing remarks.

Conference venue

All conference sessions will be held at the Marriott Courtyard Decatur,130 Clairemont Avenue, Decatur, Georgia, 30030.

Lodging

The CDC has reserved a block of sleeping rooms at the Marriott Courtyard Decatur and the Hampton Inn at the Federal government rate of $173/night, plus tax. The Hampton Inn is next door to the Marriot Courtyard Decatur. Conference participants are responsible for making their own hotel reservations by August 16, 2024. Participants may reserve a room at either hotel by phone or online:

Meals

Participants are responsible for the cost of their meals. There are a variety of dining options in Decatur within walking distance.

Transportation

MARTA is an option to travel to and from the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Decatur. The Decatur MARTA station is a few blocks from both the Courtyard Marriott Decatur and the Hampton Inn. The hotels do not provide a shuttle service.
