The faculty here at CDC have been extremely accommodating and willing to help me with anything I have needed. I have gained insight to different facets of environmental health that I had never been exposed to before, which has allowed me to broaden my future career prospects. My participation in this program has been extremely rewarding and has expanded my interest and viewpoints within public health to an extent that I did not expect. I have gained knowledge and experience that I doubt I would have been able to get anywhere else.

Overall, this experience has helped me gain new skills and solidified my career goals. I hope to be able to continue working with the CDC in the future. I would highly recommend this internship experience to any potential applicant interested in a career in public health, even if their interested in a career outside of the federal government because of the wide exposure this position offers to public health practice.

The Graduate Environmental Health internship at the National Center for Environmental Health has been an enlightening experience. Prior to this summer, my knowledge of environmental health was quite limited. The programming provided through the internship has given me a much more thorough understanding of the range of topics subsumed within environmental health. My experiences as a summer intern have helped me to develop a variety of skills that will be useful as I move forward in my education and career.

The programming provided through this internship has given me a much more thorough understanding of the wide range of topics subsumed within environmental health. This opportunity has taught me about environmental health policy to report on the role that federal and state government has in improving environmental and public health. My long-term future career plans include the federal government, however I would first like to gain experience with a local or state government or the private sector to understand more about direct impact of environmental health field.
