Continuing Education

Overview

Continuing education (CE) for this course is available through the CDC Training and Continuing Education Online system (TCEO). To earn CEs, you must register for the course, submit a course evaluation through TCEO, and complete a posttest. All actions must be completed by November 1, 2021 in order to obtain CEs.

Note: The TCEO certificate of completion differs from the course certificate available in the Chapter 5: Conclusion, Next Steps section of this course.

Purpose

The purpose of this training is to familiarize participants with the components of a Comprehensive School Physical Activity Program and the process for developing, implementing, and evaluating one. After this training, users should be able to take the next steps to begin the process of developing a Comprehensive School Physical Activity Program.

Objectives

At the conclusion of the session, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the importance and benefits of youth physical activity.
  2. List the components of a Comprehensive School Physical Activity Program.
  3. Describe the process for developing, implementing, and evaluating a Comprehensive School Physical Activity Program during the school year.

Target Audience: This course is most relevant to populations who work in school settings (e.g., teachers, administrators, school nurses), are training to work in a school setting and/or with children (e.g., teachers, physical education and nutrition majors, nurses), and other populations working within an organization whose goal is to improve the health and academic success of children and adolescents (including physical, mental, and emotional health), such as state and regional health departments, and non-profit organizations.
