When the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) began 16 years ago, 50,000 people in Africa were on HIV treatment. As of 2019, PEPFAR has helped 15.7 million people access lifesaving treatment and saved more than 17 million lives. As a key implementer of PEPFAR, CDC plays a unique role – bringing scientific and on-the-ground expertise to bear in the fight against HIV. In fact, according to a new analysis, CDC’s global efforts to treat and prevent HIV contributed to more than half of key PEPFAR outcomes in 2019.  Read More >> | Watch Now >>
