A 55-year-old man from the Middle East presenting with chronic abdominal pain was seen by his health care provider.
Answer to Case #321
This was a case of hydatid disease caused by Echinococcus granulosus. Diagnostic features included:
- the presence of refractile hooklets (Figures A and B).
- presence of protoscoleces (Figures C and D).
